چکیده

The mental foramen is located in a position where certain dental procedures may cause inadvertent damage to the nerve and lead disorders of sensory functions such as altered sensa¬tion, complete numbness, neuropathic pain, which are uncommon but severe treatment complications with significant medico-legal implications. Hence thorough knowledge its anatomical relation surrounding structures critical while undertaking procedures. To investigate size, shape, (MF), distance from adjacent teeth mandibular borders, pattern inferior alveolar canal using CBCT Indian subpopulation. This was retrospective, cross-sectional study evaluated 310 scans (179 males, 131 females) axial, sagittal, coronal planes. were evaluated, mapped measured for all parameters listed above based on age sex. Data analyzed ANOVA, independent‘t-test, chi-square test. size MF independent sex; most frequent shape Type III (round); location below apex second premolar (p>0.05). nearest root decreased an increase more females than males Inferior Alveolar Nerve Canal (IAC) perpendicular, linear patterns exit at common anterior loops groups.

The effect of ameloblastoma and keratocystic odontogenic tumor on the displacement pattern of inferior alveolar canal in CBCT examinations

Background. The inferior alveolar canal should be examined as a significant anatomical landmark, particularly in the posterior body and ramus of the mandible, for dental and surgical procedures. In the present study, the effects of two pathological lesions, ameloblastoma and keratocystic odontogenic tumor, on canal displacement were investigated. Methods. This study had a single-blinded design....

Assessment of the inferior mandibular canal’s position by Cone-Beam Computed Tomography

Abstract Objectives: It is important to know the exact location and anatomic variety of inferior alveolar nerve canal for different procedures of mandibular surgeries. The aim of the present study was to evaluate inferior mandibular canal’s anatomic position by Cone-beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). Methods: In a cross sectional study, CBCT were taken and assessed from 130 patients (...

Computerized Tomographic Localization of Inferior Alveolar Canal and Mental Foramen in the Mandible Among Implant Patients:An Imaging Study

Dental implants are gaining immense popularity and wide acceptance because they not only replace lost teeth, but are also permanent restorations that do not interfere with oral function or speech or compromise the self-esteem of patients. Anatomic factors are considered by the clinician to determine the best implant placement sites. Appropriate replacement planning in which imaging plays a pivo...
